
Wessex Ridgeway Relay Rules…
- Race to be held under UKA rules.
- Under UKA rules, dogs are not permitted to accompany runners.
- All competitors undertake the event at their own risk and will be required to sign a waiver to this effect as a condition of entry. Only declared competitors are allowed to run, and only for their own team.
- Keep to the Wessex Ridgeway and East Devon Way trails unless directed to deviate.
- Any incoming runner approaching a checkpoint from the wrong direction will have been deemed to be taking a short cut and will receive a half hour time penalty if it is adjudged he/she has gained an advantage.
- Each runner shall be identifiable by their team race number - this must be worn at all times.
- A wrist band shall be carried by the runner throughout the race. Although, at the end of leg 1 & 6 the wrist band will be handed to a marshal by the incoming runner, a marshal on the other side of the road will hand a new wrist band to the outgoing runner. Please wait until safe to cross these busy roads!
- Each team must maintain a time sheet of handover times for their team. The completed time sheet shall be presented to the organisers at the finish.
- In the event of becoming lost, runners are advised to retrace their steps to the last marker and try again from there.
- Each runner must have the race director's number saved to their phone, provided at race registration.
- The Race Director's decision is final.
Safety Notes…
- Follow the Wessex Wyvern, a GREEN DRAGON on a white disc or the Finger Posts.
- The entrances to many of the car parks have been narrowed to deter travellers so beware.
- Take extra care on all the road sections.
- Listen to the marshal instructions at all times - be aware of the changeovers at the A350 and the A37, please do not attempt to cross the road until instructed by the marshal.
- When parking at the Leg3/4 changeover please park on the grass verge (see route description). This is private land on a working farm and the owner gives us permission to park.
- Please follow the Countryside Code.
